Here is the production process of extracts derived from Helicteres hirsuta lour by An Xuan Company in Cam Lo district:
After about six months of growth, the helicteres hirsuta lour plants reach over a meter tall. Farmers harvest them by carefully cutting all branches and leaves about 15 to 20 centimeters from the base.
The harvested stems and branches are then chopped into small pieces, dried thoroughly, and meticulously washed before being simmered in a lengthy cooking process. This process, from start to finish, takes more than a day. Finally, the resulting liquid concentrate undergoes another 40 hours of freeze drying to remove moisture before being packaged.
The product, when brewed with warm water, emits a delightful aroma alongside the steam, with a subtle hint of bitterness.
