We are excited to present to you bamboo furniture made by the skilled hands of artisan Nguyen Van Phuc.
Introduction
Nguyen Van Phuc has dedicated his life to crafting eco-friendly bamboo furniture. His workshop is located on the outskirts of Dien Ban town, Quang Nam province, Vietnam.
Quang Nam is a coastal province in Central Vietnam, located near the northernmost part of the South Central Coast region. It’s famous for the historic city of Hoi An, a popular tourist destination.
The unique features of Nguyen Van Phuc’s furniture
The bamboo bases like this make his products unique.
Most bamboo furniture manufacturers throw away the bamboo base and only use the bamboo stem to make their products. What makes Nguyen Van Phuc’s bamboo furniture unique is that he uses the entire bamboo plant, including the base, to create his pieces. This gives his furniture a unique and distinctive look.
“To make bamboo furniture like mine, you need more than just skill. You also need patience and perseverance,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc. “The bamboo we use must have beautiful base. After we dig it up, we have to dry it in the sun for almost a year before we can use it to make furniture.”
