Quang Tri Organic Rice: The Journey to Building a Trusted Brand

Quang Tri Organic Rice is a brand that was founded in 2017 with a mission to provide customers with safe, high-quality rice that is good for their health. The rice is grown on clean land using pure, non-GMO rice varieties, clean irrigation water, and organic farming and processing methods.

Quang Tri is a coastal province in central Vietnam. For generations, the people of Quang Tri have depended on agriculture for their livelihood, with rice farming being the primary source of income. In 2023, the province had nearly 28,000 hectares of land dedicated to rice cultivation.
It wasn’t until 2017 that organic rice production was first introduced to Quang Tri. The pioneer in this field was a startup called QTOrganic. Through years of dedication and innovation, QTOrganic has successfully built a brand known as “Quang Tri Organic Rice.”

Pham Thi Diem Le – the founder of QTOrganic
In 2016, Pham Thi Diem Le, a native of Quang Tri province, Vietnam, was living in Ho Chi Minh City. She felt suffocated by the hustle and bustle of city life. Longing for a simpler existence, she decided to return to her hometown.
Diem Le brought with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in the agricultural sector. She dreamed of using her expertise to develop an organic rice brand right where she was born.
Pham Thi Diem Le remembers the journey of building Quang Tri Organic Rice with a bittersweet smile. It was a path filled with immense challenges, but ultimately, incredibly rewarding.
The biggest hurdle initially was convincing local farmers to abandon traditional, inorganic methods and embrace a new, organic approach. Fear of failure and uncertainty made them hesitant at first. Diem Le persevered, patiently explaining the benefits of organic farming.
Slowly but surely, Diem Le’s dedication paid off. What began with a handful of farmers tending a few dozen hectares has blossomed into a thriving operation spanning over 200 hectares by early 2024. Today, farmers proudly see their organic rice embraced by both domestic and international markets.
A significant milestone was achieved in early 2023 when over 15 tons of “Quang Tri Organic Rice” were exported to Europe for the first time. This success is a testament to Le’s vision and the hard work of the farmers. It also serves as a powerful motivator to continue producing high-quality organic rice and conquer an even bigger market share on the global stage.
In 2019, researchers from Hiroshima University in Japan found that organic rice grown in Quang Tri province, Vietnam contains two rare and valuable compounds: Momilactone A and Momilactone B (MA and MB). These compounds have been shown to have anti-diabetic, anti-gout, and anti-obesity properties.
