The Top Coco story: a journey of passion and tradition

Founders of Top Coco Baked Coconut Crackers

Mai Thi Y Nhi (left) and Nguyen Van Tan (right), the co-founders of the Top Coco brand.

Mai Thi Y Nhi grew up surrounded by coconut palms in Tam Quan, Vietnam. Everywhere she looked, coconuts seemed to be a part of life – used in delicious dishes, woven into everyday crafts. This deep connection with the humble coconut sparked a dream in Nhi: to create healthy snacks that showcased the goodness of her hometown’s bounty.

Nhi wasn’t just passionate about the coconut’s delicious potential; she also saw a chance to give back to the local farmers. Despite the abundance of coconuts, many growers struggled to make a decent living. This inspired Nhi’s vision: to create successful products using the region’s coconuts and, in turn, support the local community.

After moving to Da Nang City with her husband (Nguyen Van Tan), they opened a small bakery. Since 2016, the couple spent a year researching and developing the first recipe for baked coconut crackers.

However, when they first introduced their product to the market, they faced numerous challenges: consumers were indifferent to the new product, they lacked capital, and persuading retail stores and supermarkets to carry their product was difficult.

Undeterred, Nhi and her husband displayed unwavering determination. They tirelessly approached retailers, showcasing the product’s quality and deliciousness to potential customers. They continuously refined their production process, ensuring the crackers were healthy and consistently tasty.

Their hard work paid off. Customers started embracing Top Coco’s unique flavor and healthy approach. Then came a breakthrough – their first export order, all the way from Japan! It was then that they realized that their startup could survive.

Top Coco baked coconut crackers have been certified as a 4-star OCOP product by Da Nang City, making them a specialty of the city. The crackers are exported to markets such as Japan, Korea, the US, China, Laos, Mongolia, France, and many more.
